How Much Post-Processing is Too Much Post-Processing

This image of a woods pond in Autumn is one of my favorites, both in the original and in this heavily post-processed. The processing here has been to give the image an overall look of a painting, though just what kind of painting is not clear. I like it, but I recognize that some might refrain from calling it a “photograph.”  This kind of manipulation has become more popular with the wealth of programs and apps now promoted for digital computers. So, is it good? Does this enhance or improve the picture? Is it distinctive, or is it reductionist?
